TANF is the cash assistance program for very low income families in Virginia. The purpose of the program is to help needy adults take care of their families and become self sufficient.
How to get started:
Apply at your local DSS and complete an application then have an interview with an intake worker.
Serving:
Family must include a child, be needy, and satisfy certain "good conduct" requirements. Virginia's TANF program emphasize personal responsibility. Participants may be provided with services such as job skills training, work experience, job readiness training, child care assistance, transportation and other work related expenses.
